Pancake Mountain
12pm- 2pm
You have to see to believe Pancake Mountain, the Washington, D.C., cable-access show on which alt-rockers like Ted Leo, Scissor Sisters, and the Arcade Fire play before an audience of energetic little kids, most of whom are barely out of potty training.

MTV could never dream up a show that once featured Fugazi god Ian MacKaye lip-syncing a kiddie ditty he wrote called "Vowel Movement." Such moments have made Pancake Mountain the coolest TV booking in rock. "Bands started hearing about it and called us," founder Scott Stuckey says. And they're not the only appreciative souls out there. "So many parents write us," says Stuckey, "and they're like, 'Wow, this is something I really like watching with my kids, rather than the Wiggles.'"

Best of Gava/Gate Animation
2pm-3pm
This 25 minute collection highlights 18 shorts created by kids, ages 7-17, in Gava/Gate Animation Classes over the past 10 years. Our
participating films from national festivals are included, as well as a mix of recent works by both boys and girls. Parents are advised: some
cartoon violence is included.

The Gava/Gate Program
Gava/Gate Animation Classes are administered by the Greenbelt
Association for the Visual Arts (GAVA), a Maryland-based non-profit.
Space and equipment are provided by Greenbelt Access Television, Inc.
Classes began more than ten years ago, when our administrator's
daughter, Nora Simon expressed an interest in learning about animation.
Her mom, Barbara hired me as instructor based on my previous experience
as a cartoonist and teaching with Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning (M-NCPPC).

Over the years we focused on 2D digital animation - particularly Flash
and have films participate in more than 50 festivals - both in the U.S.
and Canada.
